Anya for the win?

Is anyone still watching or if you are, do you really care? I do and I don't - I guess I do in that, drive by the car accident and leer kind of way.

It seems that Anya is going to win. I think she's got the best attitude, the least drama, and some of the best photos - I just have a hard time getting over how she talks. But they had issue with "Dani's" speech too and she still won.

I was hoping Lauren would go farther, but it makes sense for her to go - there's no way she can be a Covergirl, the fact that she said, on camera, that the Covergirl commercial was the one thing she's been dreading is not good! When they showed that clip I thought, there's no way they're keeping her. Whitney is getting on my nerves. I like Fatima one moment then don't the next - she's just so clueless so I think, does she even realize what she says? And the issue with her travel papers - I wonder how much was from the producers making it seem like she was incompetent and unprepared or if she is truly incompetent (come on - who doesn't know you have to travel for this show by now?!). And the pronunciation lesson from Kat? Awesome. Just awesome.

Elyse Sewell's blog has her latest photos from shoots in Korea (low quality scans, but fun to see nonetheless!). Hard to believe, but the 2nd photoswith the American jumpsuit is made by Chanel (the bow too). I don't who else here follows her blog, but I like to check and get caught up and it sounds like she's a busy girl in Korea and will then go back to Hong Kong in a few weeks. I love her cultural shots as much as her "behind the scenes" fashion ones. :)

well there was certainly some bratty behavior from the person all the goth girls love to vote for as cover girl model of the week (every week)! i did not expect claire to be so immature and now i don't like her or lauren and I REALLY don't like Whitney. I actually am rooting for dominique just because of their heinousness!

i also think kat--- looked good but she really did not look happy thinking about that new haircut!

Everyone watching this show, any episode since the 3rd season, knows that Nigel is a perv. I mean, look how much we joke about it. His looks, his leers, is over-all creepiness. The guy really doesn't even take very good photos.

Cycle 10, episode... 3? (3/5/08)

Whoa. Anyone as shocked as I that they let the conceited little twit go instead of the stale as day old bread Dominique? I thought they loved to break girls down with too much confidence and build them back up, but I guess Nigel's distaste for her was strong enough to give her the boot. Yikes for her, who will be the new villain against Fatima? I see that Allison had joined ranks with (can't remember her name yet) the plus size girl - who gets picked apart after Allison leaves (a la previews). Heeee... that should be fun.

So, what'd everyone think of the make-overs? Claire - yes, much better. I just didn't get what was going on in the first place. Lauren - wow, she looks great I think. Horse mane? Sounded strange, but looks surprisingly good. Tyra's description in the pop up window and her impression of the girls as she was doing it was soooooooooooo annoying. And her hand flutter for long hair is getting to be too much for me. It's like Tyra is impersonating Tyra impersonating _____.

Anyone else notice that Paulina gives Tyra strange looks. It's as though she had no idea what she was in for!

First off, ANTM Academy???? I was SO OVER it. Tyra as the Homecoming Queen? Ew. I did love seeing crazy ass Jael in a blonde wig. I love that bitch.

So who are out favorites? I think I love me some Anya and I gotta love Marvita because she's representing San Francisco!

Did anyone else in this tribe start pegging these girls as reincarnations of girls from previous seasons?? Geof and I were literally naming them "model name" version 2.0

In defense of ANTM

In defense of ANTM and Tyra: I have been watching Superstar and Janice Dickinson now and then at least half of the shoots are sexual. I'm no prude and maybe sex is the future of advertising but it is a very specific set of skills.

I think ANTM has a broader approach to the skills required.

Superstar is very slick and gorgeous but come on, fetish on show 3 or 4 (very hot and fun, but)?

And we all know Janice is just crazy in a way that makes Tyra look like the poster child for mental health...

So I am looking forward to the next season of ANTM, when I expected to be burned out by these other shows.

I wasn't surprised Sarah went. I was a little surprised to see that she was surprised she went, which was almost more arrogant than Dominic.

So is it physically possible for a female to lose three inches in the bust in a week? I was kind of suspicious about that. I was also suspicious that Ben plays it up really gay in front of others and then in the OTF interview he was all "I guess having a gay guy like you is good, right? Because they're kind of picky." Methinks the lady doth protest too much.

I think Ben's pretty safe, though. It might be Dominic going this week. They edited him as too much of a jackass so I think that turned a lot of voters off. I haven't voted yet, but might start if Perry gets in the bottom three.

Cycle 3 question (may or may not contain spoilers)

I hadn't seen cycles 2 or 3, so I caught most of cycle 3 on the VH1 marathon last week. That was by far the best cycle, not only in the crop of contestants, but also the challenges, photo shoots, and Kate Dillon. I know who won, but VH1 stupidly scheduled the episodes so they ended at like 6:00 in the morning. I saw up to the second-to-last episode where Norelle got the boot, leaving Eva, Yaya, Ann, and Amanda. I know Eva won, and I think Yaya got second, so who were third and fourth? I started falling asleep because it was 4:00 AM by that point, and I was too tired and lazy to record the last two episodes....

And Apathy's Next Top Model is..... whatever. After they booted Jenah I couldn't care less. As soon as I heard that Saleisha had modeled on the Tyra Banks Talk Show Featuring Tyra Banks as Your Tyra Banks Talk Show Hostess Twinkie I knew she was going to win, so these last four or five episodes were tedious. She obviously got picked to be on the show and win it. Oh please don't let the judges walk out onto the runway at the beginning of the "fashion show".... Damn!! I hate this show. I can't wait until next cycle.

Remember when Tyrant showed the girls how to work the crowd while working the runway last cycle (or was it the cycle before that? I can't remembererer....)? Like, when they showed a clip of her in the Victoria's Secretions "fashion show" walking down the runway with her arms straight out like a cross between Diana Ross and Jebus-on-the-cross and then flapping said arms up and down to get the audience to cheer, and how she would also point at fake people in the audience and wave to them? Almost all of them in the VS "fashion show" last night did that. It's yucky.

I was bugged when they were in that Chinese 1,000 store mall...and it seemed they all went to the same store to buy their stuff, cause when I saw one girl paying, another girl was walking around behind her in the same store. There are 1,000 stores, can you try to spread out a little?

And also, everything about Bianca bugged me. Her horrible attidude, her horrible face, her horrible pictures. Maybe she learned alot while being on ANTM, but she didnt learn how to be a model, cause everyone of her photos were bad. Im so glad she didnt make it to the top three, but Im bothered she made it this far.

November 26, 2007 (Burbank, California) ─ International supermodel Paulina Porizkova has joined The CW’s AMERICA’S NEXT TOP MODEL cycle 10 as a new panel judge, where she will conduct regular weekly evaluations of top model participants.

“We are thrilled to have Paulina as a part of this cycle’s judging panel. The show and participants will benefit a great deal from her vast modeling knowledge and expertise,” said Ken Mok, Executive Producer of AMERICA’S NEXT TOP MODEL.

Twiggy, who has been a part of AMERICA’S NEXT TOP MODEL since cycle 5 is leaving due to scheduling conflicts. “We would like to thank Twiggy for her great contributions to the show. Having an icon like Twiggy lend us her considerable expertise has elevated our show to a whole new level. We wish her well in her endeavors and hope to collaborate with her in future cycles of ANTM as well as other projects.”

The judging panel for cycle 10 will again be led by Tyra Banks and will also include runway expert J. Alexander and renowned fashion photographer Nigel Barker. As always, special guest judges will appear to critique within his or her area of expertise.

Participants live together and ferociously vie for the grand prize, competing in a highly accelerated modeling boot camp. The participants’ abilities are tested each week as they strive to master the runway and fashion photo shoots, perfect publicity skills and learn the business aspects of becoming a supermodel, all under 24-hour-a-day surveillance of the AMERICA’S NEXT TOP MODEL cameras.

That whole thing at judging, telling them they were going to China and THEN cutting Ambreal? Uh-uh. That ain't right. Tyra's just trying to piss us all off now.

Also ain't right: Bianca's photo. How on EARTH could the judges think that was good? She looked BUSTED. I thought all of the photos were great EXCEPT Bianca's.

This show is so frustrating. I now understand why so many of my friends have stopped watching.

my 16 year old neighbor is doing barbizon. i tried to talk her out of it - it's costing her $3000 and her family is way low income.

My question is - does any one know if it's a total scam or is there any redeeming qualities to it? i know i liked their commercials in the 90's...

Heather in NYC??

Does anyone know whether Heather is in NYC BECAUSE HOLY THE TYRA BANKS SHOW (I.E. SHIT) I SWEAR TO TORI SPELLING I JUST SAW HEATHER GOING INTO THE CVS ACROSS THE STREET FROM MY BUILDING

Not sure why she'd be on the UWS, but it was either her or her twin sister. She was about my height (5'9.5"), rail thin (so thin that her knees looked like giraffe knees in her black fishnets), had long, straight hair the length of Heather's on the show (although it looked like it had been lightened a bit from really dark to a chestnut brown), super heavy black eyeliner, a tiny head with a similarly shaped nose as Heather's, and wearing a denim miniskirt and black puffer jacket. She was talking on a cell phone and right before she went into CVS I stared her down as I passed by her and true to Asperger's she averted her eyes (but then again most people do avoid the gaze of a potentially crazy guy with super pale skin albeit pretty eyes).

Fashionistas from Naomi Campbell to Carrie Bradshaw have made embarrassing missteps on the catwalk. But model Sarah Welch trumped them all when she fell through a hole during an L.A. Fashion Week show.

A video of Welch's dramatic drop -- a sensation on YouTube -- shows her walking the runway at last week's presentation of the fashion line Shadang. She stares blankly ahead, not noticing the gaping hole left where a martial arts performer had cracked open the floor with a flip.

"As a runway model, you have to keep your head up, you know," Welch, a former contestant on "The Bachelor" reality series, told KABC-TV. "So I didn't look down for a hole, particularly."

Then came the plunge. In the video, the crowd is heard howling with apparent shock. Welch, waist-deep in the hole, struggles to lift herself out, and is helped by "Heroes" actor Jimmy Jean-Louis, who modeled at the event. She regains her footing and exits stage left, raising her fist to seemingly signal that she's OK.

The video of the tumble, posted Thursday, had more than 1 million views on YouTube by Monday afternoon.

Why I really watch this show

So, while I love the attempts at modeling and Ms. J's wardrobe and mocking Mr. Jay and the house drama and the sometimes interesting photography and hilarious product placement, the main reason I watch ANTM is to mock and hate on Tyra. She was a good model (no Naomi or Veronica Webb, but still...) but ever since she popped back into the public consciousness I've thought she was just a big tool. And I love when she is exposed as such:

I was bored for most of this episode, but I do have to comment on two things:

First, whatever bitch it was who was going off about not wanting to be friends with Heather...she was a moron as well as a bitch, which is always a dangerous combination. She was all, "People like that are clingy." Um...actually, moron-bitch, "people like that" (meaning, people with Aspberger's syndrome) are really quite the *opposite* of clingy. Have you noticed that while you were all cramming yourselves into one bathtub, Heather was hangin' by herself, just chillin'?

Second, I loved how the "stillborn" photo showed whoever it was holding her stillborn child *in her model dressing room*. WTF?? Did she supposedly give birth right there in the dressing room? Are we to imagine she was smoking to take the edge off her premature labor? That was just too funny to be at all serious.

So, yeah, I don't really post here anymore since I gave up watching the show. That didn't stop me from running into Danielle (Cycle 6 winner) on the street in Soho yesterday though. I walked by her and thought to myself, "Wait, she looks familiar" then it clicked. I turned around and caught up with her to say hi. Asked how she was doing, introduced myself and she introduced her mom. They were out shopping. I asked if she'd mind if I took a photo of her with my iPhone and she said sure! So pretty. I posted the photo here a little while ago.

I thought for sure they were going to keep Renee and boot Natty for final two, but after they booted Renee I thought it was a good decision. They really did sell Natty up until the very end as a possible winner. But no surprise Jazzy won, and I'm glad she did. I liked Natty, but Jazzy was definitely winner material. Was it me, or did Natty look look she was in a sausage casing in that bodysuit under the skirt that fell off on the catwalk? She looked... bulgy.... Nothing against bulgy, but it's not a good look on the runway.

It sucked that they made Jazzy speak in Spanish in her ad-libbed commercial. I wonder if they're going to make her say something in Spanish for every MLAaCG next cycle...
